I really liked MJ’s 13 Little Blue Envelopes, but I absolutely LOVED the sequel, The Last Little Blue Envelope! Maybe because it was set in London during Christmastime…so magical

I’m usually a fan of ‘world-gone-wrong’ novels, and that’s true in this case, too. I enjoyed Bumped by Megan McCafferty, even though it completely creeped me out, as well. As both a female and a mother, the idea that pregnancy would become commercialized and glamorized for teens leaves me in despair. Mostly because I can see a world in which it could really happen, and I want so much better for my daughter. In total, I thought the commercialization of pregnancy (such as when pre-teen girls go to the Babiez R U store and walk away wearing fake pregnancy bellies) was funny in squirm-inducing way. I wouldn’t recommend it for the humor, but I definitely can’t wait to read the sequel.
